how does one become a butterfly?

I left this thread here for myself. It was a little tribute to our friend Briar~ and yet for me, it was more than that. It was about life, the feeling of uncertainty that life in general brings and the fragility of it all.

It's been a year since Briar~ left us and moved forward... and in that year some tremendous things have happened.


People have died...
Some of you have had children...
People have fallen in love...
People have had loved ripped away from them...
People have let people use them
Other let some abuse them...
Some let goodness creep in....
Others fought to keep goodness out....
SOme had their very life source challenged
Some challenged the bad...and won
Some fell in love - huge grin
Some missed oout on some great things...
And some have just moved on...


I didn't know Briar~ as well as some of you. But her passing and my getting sick so close together really made me stop and think. It's almost been a year since that big thread threatened to unravel... Took that, to show me how many other threads were laying there already unraveling. I've tied up some loose ends. Learned some goodness in other ways and in general... i've become someone im very proud of in almost every way.

The good that was in me before is more refined.
The hurt that was there has been reconciled and put in a resting spot....
and...
The love that fills my heart as it always has... is still there... im just more cautious now about how I share it...


Briar..may your soul be flying free like a butterfly and may you rest your beautiful self on those who need to see goodness with their eyes and hearts wide open...

It was a sad goodbye..but in another way i know she is happy to be with her son..no more pain or suffering..I still have thoughts about her other son and the family and freinds she left behind here..we all will fly one day..and that peace of knowing we will see each other again can sustain us thru the time it takes to get there..
